Depart the city to the Delvera Tourist Centre below the Simonsberg Mountains near Stellenbosch. Meet our guide and gear up at the Dirtopia Trail Centre for the Winelands Mountain Bike Trail, which can visit up to 4 wine farms in the area. We begin the trail to be in time for an (optional) cellar tour at Simonsig Estate and a tasting of their famous Cap Classique (“Champagne-style”) wine, the Kaapse Vonkel. Continue towards the mountains, with further tastings at Knorhoek, Muratie and Delheim Wine Estates. The area is rightly famous for high quality dry white and red wines from noble grape varieties. The tour visits an interesting mix of historic estates and contemporary wineries. We end our cycle tour back at Delvera. After lunch at one of the restaurants in the area, explore Stellenbosch town and its beautiful examples of Cape Dutch architecture, the university, shops and galleries. There may be an opportunity for further wine tastings, before we return to the city in the late afternoon. Note: Cycling tours can also be operated in the Franschhoek and Paarl wine regions as a day tour. Multi-day tours to the Breedekloof and Robertson wine regions of the Breede River Valley, can also be arranged on a request basis.
